And for the pupper in question, that is exactly what happened. Pretty much giving them free rein to bark as much as they please for the rest of their life.  

Because once you have proven yourself in a life saving situation, you are simply too valuable to be dismissed, and heck, what is putting up with a bit of barking when it literally saved your life, even if only that one time?
